Our History

The company was originally formed over 40 years ago by a young Chris Dunphy working from a base in Littleborough, Lancashire. The small company gained a good local reputation for quality workmanship in service and installation established good links with consultants designing church heating systems.

In 1979 the company installed the heating in the Cathedral Church of St John the Evangelist, Salford, perhaps better known as simply Salford Cathedral. In 1987 Christopher Dunphy Ecclesiastical Ltd went national, specialising only in the design and installation of heating systems for churches.

The company has been “highly commended” finalists 4 times over the years, underlining its complete commitment to its customers. Our heating systems are sympathetic to the buildings in which they are installed taking into account the many factors that are often unique to churches. We provide expert advice and a quality installation.

In 2021 Christopher Dunphy Ecclesiastical was purchased by Druggitt & Harding, which is run by the Taylor family. Warren has been put in charge of the day-to-day running, whilst Glyn is the CEO and runs both companies. Warren and Gareth are both directors of Druggitt & Harding and Christopher Dunphy Ecclesiastical, and aim to bring the company into the 21st century.

No matter how difficult the problem may seem we can offer a solution. Every church is different; they differ from medieval gems to modern amphitheatres, from large cathedrals to small country churches and what is the solution for one is not always the answer for another.

As we do not make or manufacture equipment nor are we affilliated to any other company we are truly able to advise impartially on the best type of system suited to your church. Some heating systems are cheaper to install but have high ongoing maintenance costs whilst others are more expensive to install but have a considerably longer life and lower ongoing costs, we help you consider the differences.

Today environmental issues are also of concern and many churches want to use alternative ‘green’ heating solutions such as bio-mass boilers, heat pumps, solar panels etc, we can advise on the best way forward to lower your carbon footprint.

The company goes to exacting lengths to maintain its excellent reputation for quality.
